How much do you charge to pick up or to return a dog to London?
Solution

We charge 65p per mile (plus VAT) to cover the cost of petrol, our driver's salary, and wear-and-tear on the vehicle. We measure this door-to-door. We're approximately 120 miles from central London -- a 240 mile round-trip. A pick-up, or delivery, in London would therefore cost approximately £156.00 plus VAT (£183.30).

Most of our doggie guests come from the London area, so we try our best to combine trips (for example, a return followed by a pick-up) whenever we can. In this way, the costs can be shared. But as we have relatively few guests at any one time, this is often not possible.

We are also happy to meet folks part-way: we can find a grassy, quiet area of a motorway service area car park. This can reduce charges, as we charge by the actual mileage driven.
